Got a 1977 Travco Elite 270
Well,\nAs a few people know I sold my blue and silver 75 270 back in the early spring. It hurt to do it and I regretted it soon after. I started a side business restoring military trucks and that has also taken up a lot of my time so have not been posting a lot but been keeping an eye on things. Needed some cash back in the spring so I sold her to a nice family in upstate NY.\nWell....been looking for another one ever since. Seems I sold mine too cheap and I have not found another decent one for a reasonable price....until yesterday.\nDon't ask me why I was poking around the RV ads on cL in December. Was not even looking for a Travco. Had given up and decided....oooohhhh I can't say it....was looking at Winnebagos...lol. Seriously though Winnebago made some nice coaches.\nAnyway just was trolling the local Craigslist RV section and saw "Free RV". Did not even have a good pic but saw the dash pic and said....THaT's a TRAVCO. It was listed as a 73 but it is actually a 77. Landlord was making a tenant get rid of it. He pretty much said first person that shows up with a tow truck can have it or it's getting crushed and going in the 40yd dumpster that was sitting next to it.... \nSo I dropped what I was doing and drove an hour to see it. I was expect a rodent infested bag of crap with blown out windows and a seized motor....\nThis thing was in decent shape. Tires are cracked , it sat but it has hydroboost not hydrovac and most of the brake lines had been replaced. Tenant said it didn't run. No spark he though. I said I'll take it. He would not sign over the reg until I showed up with a tow truck so I assured him I would be back this am and hoped to get it running and drive it out. If not a tow truck would be there Monday am. Threw the guy a C note . Went this morning with a battery, threw some gas down the carb, she fired right up. It smoked the alt belt and the fuel lines by the lift pump were rotted bad. Replaced all that, threw a dealer plate on it and drove it 50 miles home....total score. This one is a keeper. It needs a new interior and the usual maintainece a 40 yr old RV would need.\nHere is a pic in a parking lot halfway home.

Awesome\nGlad you got another one. I can't find a deal like that but then here in GA we have a Travco hoarder who now has 17 of them.

Merry Christmas and he drives it home! Never seen one with a flip up genny door. Is that more common on the later models/elite?

I saw the craigslist ad, That thing has an Onan power drawer for a genset. It will slide out for service.

Yep, I did not even open it yet...lol I know there is a generator. I have to get my M813 back together so I can free up the bay in my shop.

I have big plans for this one. I would have to be in a pretty bad place to sell it.

A GMC Motorhome Parts place in CA has heavy duty starter brackets for that genset. It was a common failure for the cast to break

I gotta post some pics but the steering arm has some sort of weird sandwich like brace on it. Never seen that before.
