Travco 270 Motor Mount replacement

Unread post by Acesneights » Tue May 12, 2015 7:49 pm

So I did my motor mounts. Easiest Mounts I have ever changed. I think it took me 30 mins with hand tools. I won't go into the nut and bolt work of the mount itself. That is self explanatory. 3 bolts. For 40 yr old original mounts, the nuts came right off like they were brand new. It's tight on the two 3/8 studs. I used a flex head ratchet and some patience. Jacking the motor up is really the hardest part.\nNow every Travco maybe a little different so don't take my method as gospel but I was able to do them without removing the engine fan. it will take two people. I used a simple floor jack under the oil pan with a flat block of wood between the jack and the oil pan. Make sure you don't have the wood against the drain plug or you could bend the oil pan. I had someone jack the motor slowly while I was inside and guided the fan blades past the shroud by gently pulling on them while pushing in on the shroud. I did not bend the fan blades. Did one side at a time. The part number NAPA 602-1115 is the correct number. They were only 4$ each... :o  \nMy old mounts were pretty wasted.

How many miles are on your coach? I guess I need to check mine.

Glad to hear they are that easy. I switched over to electric fans so I could do it by myself if that was the only reason for the second person. Time to order the NAPA mounts now that the number is confirmed.

\n101k but I think age is more the issue than miles.
