45" Dipstick Replacement Part?

Unread postby simimiller on Wed Sep 27, 2017 7:43 pm

Anyone know where I can get a replacement dipstick that's 45" long for my 220 (RM350)?

Hmmm... if you can braze, get a old? speedometer cable, get a used transmission dip stick top and make your own...
or,,, I belieVe you have a 3128? ...junk yards should still have a lot of those engines........
FWIW.

Thanks. I'm also considering using a shorter dipstick. There is a break in the line that is connected with a rubber hose and could shorten the run.

I also have a rubber hose in the dipstick tube. I wonder if Travco had to make them longer.

I had my "broken" dipstick repaired as the end of the dipstick kept missing the other end
on the engine due to separation...and a new rubber piece of connective hose installed.fixed the problem
The reason for the connective hose in the middle of the dipstick tube?
Because it is solidly mounted at the very top end near the radiator.. and on the oil pan.
The rubber tube allows for engine movement and if the tube was one piece the whole length,
it would break with the first engine torking taking off from a dead stop!

A dodge Cummins dipstick is 44.5" long if that helps.
