SOLVED\n\nput in the correct Mr. Gasket skirted thermostat and fixed the running hot problem. \n\nThat means that I drove this vehicle home 500 miles with the engine at about 240-250 degrees before I put on a real gauge and could tell what was happening. A testament to the durability of this 413. \n\nThanks for the suggestions, would have chased my tail awhile with this one. If the prior owner had discovered this forum he wouldn't have wasted time with that electric aux fan.

I was running warm on the way home from Pensacola. I am running the Stant part number in the parts list. I now have a skirted Thermostat to go in. I will put it in on Monday when I put the Thermoquad back together.

Engine never got that hot for me. The Thermoquad was rebuilt before I got it but the accelerator pump linkage came apart and the rod pulled out of the piston in the carb itself. I think the wrong pump was installed the last time. New one going in on Monday now that the parts are here.

I am also going to be Scavenging the coolant re circulation tank and windshield washer tanks off of my 2000 Caravan before it goes to the scrap yard. I may see if the AC compressor can be set up to work on top of the 440. If it can I may be pulling the condenser and some other parts to get the Dash ac working.

Re: What temp is everyone at
well now I am really confused, went for a drive this morning and the temperature shot up and it overheated. this time the radiator started making this banging clunking noise. \n\nWaiting on the side of the road to cool off. The temp will come down at idle but when I try to drive it overheats again.

Banging and clunking sounds like steam hammering. Usually happens if the coolant is low.
