Travco's Do OR Die

Unread post by datsit » Tue Apr 28, 2015 9:36 pm

UNHAPPY CAMPER !!! Will need to do some major surgery on BD over the next week or so. I did a inspection for this seasons trips, found some major problems, all the motor mounts are broken and engine has moved forward about an inch & leaning to the right, close but no contact of rad (thank god !!). Finding the mounts (in Canada) was difficult, Napa (#6021115) could find only one @ $21. no trans mount (listed as rear motor mount) Mopar #3632984 could be found !!!! My new best friend (parts guy !!) was able to locate last two front motor mounts in Canada at $14.each but no trans mount by any parts distributor (Dodge discontinued long ago) he slaved on for a few days and found THE rear motor mount !! 3 in North America, cost $90. (no shipping outside USA . Good to have US friends , 2 left on Ebay at $ 115 + ship. (different seller) This could have been the killer of BD or a load of $$$$ to make up this mount. There is not enough room to jack up engine to replace the mounts as we found out (damaging fan blades) needing to remove rad, p/s & alt, some rear brackets as well as headers to give us the height to replace mounts & move engine back to proper placement. It's going to take some effort BUT it's do or die so we'll DO !!!! Lesson here is to get under & check those mounts & buy them NOW or you may be parked for good !!!!!!!!!!!!

Just ordered a trans mount off of ebay. Just another question, Which motor do you have Datsit? Are the mounts the same for the 440? I found that part number on Napaonline but I want to make sure it is right before I order a few.

If that number works for the 440 Napa still has them listed. The 76 model year may be different but I am hoping it is not. Thanks for the info.

When trying to look things up on NAPA's website you may have to try different years or models. Also don't forget, Travco used chassis they had laying around so a 1975 Travco might have a 1974 Chassis.\nBasically any 440 M series mount would work I would think so if you have a 1973 270 with a 440 a mount from a 1975 220 440 is probably the same. Also have you looked into aftermarket parts ? I would think energy suspension might make a Trans mount for a Torqueflight. Fairly common maybe ?? Just some ideas. My mounts don't look all that great either.
