Fuel Injection on a 413-1?
Anyone out there converted a carb'd 413-1, such as my 1971, to aftermarket fuel injection? If so, what intake manifold did you use? Not sure if an intake for a 440, such as Edelbrock, for a car application would fit/work (Haven't asked Edelbrock yet, but their catalog seems to indicate that the 413 and the 440 use the same one). The reason I'm asking is that I'm pretty sure that I can get that one with the port injector bungs already added. I understand that if I use an aftermarket fuel injection system that includes the injectors in the throttle body that the injector bungs in the intake are not needed, and that this type of fuel injection is less expensive than a sequential type.\n\n Thinking about fuel injection for added reliability, less fuel grade sensitivity (if pulling hard/hot), and possibly better mileage. I realize that I will need a high pressure pump, in or under the tank, amongst other things.

Given all the vapor lock issues I have had with mine thanks to the ethanol gas, I would definitely look into it. In fact if I don't convert mine to a Cummins I may look into this as well.\n\nhttp://www.travcoforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=152

I'm very interested in this thread, \n\nWe have a 413-1 with a not very old holley carb that seems good, but I like the idea of fuel injection if it's possible.

I think a 440-1 version might work however the 440-3 is different due to the water passages.

I would look into one of the self learning fuel injection kits that all the big aftermarket companies are making. We benefit from having a square bore carb so it is a bolt on as far as that goes. Just need to rig up an electric fuel pump.\n\nI have had limited luck running a quickfuel SS series with an temperature isolator gasket and two inch phenolic spacer. Fuel still gets hot and causes engine to get cranky depending on outside temperature and how hard it is working but it is very livable.
