Water Pump for availability for 1971 413-1?

Unread post by Dodgy71 » Wed Mar 02, 2016 5:34 pm

Anyone know where I might find a water pump for a 1971 413-1, and what the part# would be? I was recently told that they are no longer available, new, from anyone, but thought I'd ask. If no one knows of a source for a new one, do you know of a source for a rebuilt one?\nNote: I have also been told that the pump for the 413-1 is not the same as the one for the 440-3.

OK. From a ClassicWinnebagos thread, it seems that the Dodge P/N 3420225 should be correct for the 1971 413-1, as the pump's mounting flange has 5 holes, and it has the grease fitting.\n Central Jersey Motor Parts seems to have rebuilt unit for $175 + $25 shipping.\nBelow are some pics.\n

I thought the 440 truck ones were the same but I won't swear to it. Thought the only difference on the big block ones was snout.\nMaybe these guys can help ?\nhttp://www.flowkoolerwaterpumps.com/store/Wate ... _info.html

Yes, I had seen some of the ClassicWinnebago's threads on this pump, but most were 3-4 years old.\n I agree with you comment on Napa website. I can not find anything that is for cars/trucks that are more than about 10 yrs old, even if I have the Napa P/N. Really frustrating :x

Thanks for the catalog Dave!\n I'll check out the NAPA 43029, though I am concerned that this may be the one that has the large hub snout. Apparently the motor home pump is specific and has 0.625" snout (pilot for the fan), whereas the commercial trucks had one that is significantly larger. I'll let everyone know what I find.

Found a pic of the NAPA 43029. Still need to check if it is the correct hub snout/pilot size for what I need. The rest looks good.\n

Like the idea of the zerk/grease fitting. If you have to give the original for an exchange...\nWouldn't it be better to buy a replacement that no longer has the grease fitting but has duplicate internals\nand use it as a parts source and swap/rebuild the original unit? Once traded in or "they "throw it out,\none more is gone from the pool. I would like to think it is an important feature worth paying a core charge \nfor and keep it.. Hopefully finding a place to get the grease unit rebuilt at a later date or your liesure and\nlocating a rebuilding kit for one or two....Electric water pumps are used at the drag strip.....JMO.\nBBB
