Mystery+part.jpg
\nHi,\nI am in the process of cleaning up the rats nest of wiring below the dash on the drivers side. I see what looks like a can style flasher unit hanging down. I know that both of the flasher units for my rig are mounted in the fuse panel box behind the front access door above the radiator on the driver side. So what could this be?? I have attached a photo. \n\n\n\nDavid Edwards\n1973 Travco 270 (RM400 chassis)Can any one ID this Part?

Could it be a noise buzzer?

Sounds like a good guess. It is pretty beat up and likely its buzzing days are over if that was the purpose of this device. I detest the sound of buzzers so good riddance! Just to satisfy my evil curiosity though, Is there a common electrical symbol for a buzzer that would show up on the wiring diagram? I am familiar with the speaker symbol but no idea about a buzzer.

If I was really curious as to it's function... Just wire a known working buzzer, bell or light into the circuit replacing the offending unit.\nWhen an event occurs, it will do what it is designed to do. I took a black buzzer out of the front of my 1976, in the front of the dash at the ceiling,\nnow using it for a hot wire designator.\nTo this day I havent a clue what it was for as I never heard it function... .. IMO FWIW HTH\nIs a pic of mine needed?\nPS: I believe the symbol would look like a mini horn.\nBBB

That's a good approach. Thanks for the recommendation. I have a 12vdc buzzer from a circuit tester I will just clip in place of the aluminum can to see if anything triggers it. I used to be of the " If it ain't broke, don't fix it school" Now I am a Muphy's Law scholar, LOL.

Here is a "correct" electronic schematic symbol chart..\nShowing Buzzer/Horn/Audio devices...\nWas going to use my chopper motorcycle schematics, \nbut they were drawn in a cartoonish style and not \ncorrect for this situation. HTH\nBBB
