Flooring ideas for my 270

Unread post by Acesneights » Wed Jan 23, 2013 12:19 pm

Well gonna rip out the 20+yr old nasty carpet. Went to the RV show last weekend in Hartford for some ideas. I had the local flooring place give me a price for Linoleum in the main area and carpet in the cockpit. Ouch..2000$. Dang. I guess Ill be doing it myself....home Depot here I come. I also considered using a snap together fake wood floor but from what I was told if it get s water on it and is not cleaned hp very soon it will fall apart and we all know no matter how hard we try sometimes water gets in. Because the subfloor in these is what I think is marine grade plywood I wonder if using prefinished oak flooring would work ?\nAnybody ever try it ? Stuff is cheap enough.\nHas anybody used a floating composite wood floor ? That would be the cheapest easiest thing to do.

They now make a snap together vinyl flooring goes down like pergo strips about 6 inches wide and 3 ft long wood grain finish. No water damage it is thicker than vinyl. A friend put it down in his commercial store and after a couple of years no wear showing. I would put it down in my Travco next time the flooring is done.

Hmmm...I'll have to check that out. There is a Lumber Liquidators in hartford. My issue with Linoleum is I have to buy almost double what I need or have a seam.

I thought about bus flooring like you would find in a Greyhound. I got the idea from a shuttle bus at the airport.

yes on the seams working or showing thru the tile or linoleum..unless you use wood filler/caulk the seams etc......\nthat 2k price sounds high but then again you're at a RV show .not a local carpet place... I had a 22 foot class C, (Chevy Coachmen) I still have the coachmen clock and extra carpeting, I drove to a carpet discount store. (Kind of like a Wild Bill's Carpet and Tile Mart) Left the rv there while their man or men re carpeted the unit. Did the main floor, kitchen and bathroom and where the couch/bed was I made a bench with provisions for placing 12 milk crates in it and had that carpeted also using the same carpeting . I had a lot of carpet left over to do the driver/passenger area and the cost was less then $500.00 OTD... The Travco's horrible green shag was stapled like they were having a staple orgey party in the 76... Horrible job removing that.. never finished as I cut that puppy up...was a miserable project IMO and my $.02 worth.. \ncurrent rv has had the low nap carpeting installed and nicely replaced, and most likely stapled...Can be easily cut out with a tile knife, replaced and finished with 1/4 round molding...I really liked the aluminum curved molding 3/8 or 1/2 used in the travco bathroom...can't find it anywhere unless I get another travco for parts...any leads here???

I tried the peel and stick wood grain vinyl and it looks like crap. Going to put the same floor in Nessie as I put in the kitchen of my house. 5mm vinyl laminate.\nhttp://www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/c/Venetian ... C/10023700
