1977 Travco 290

Unread post by rascott » Tue Sep 25, 2018 4:16 pm

I'm selling my Travco 290. I bought this in March of this year with the intention of using it in semi-retirement but a recent medical diagnosis has changed those plans. I have photos that I can text to interested buyers. Contact me at 307-680-1343. Asking $3500 but I'll negotiate. I need to sell it as quickly as i can.\nIt is all stock and mostly original. Dodge chassis of course with 440 V-8. 77,XXX miles and it runs great; transmission shifts like it should and the brakes work well and it stops straight. The steering is what it is, meaning you're driving all the time but there is no shimmy, shake or pulling. It does have a steering stabilizer of the type with coil springs pulling in both directions, for lack of a better way to describe it, but I don't find any makers name on it. Tires have lots of tread but I don't know how old they are. I bought this unit about 350 miles from where I live and it made the trip home with no issues. I have only driven it about 100 miles since getting it home but it feels like it could be driven as far as you want to go. I got 7-8 mpg on the trip home driving 50-65 mph. Personally, I wouldn't want to drive any faster but it certainly has the power to go faster.\nThe vinyl on the ceiling was hanging here and there and my attempts to re-glue it were unsuccessful so I pulled it all off and painted the ceiling. Cabinets are in good shape for 41 years of age. It had been re-carpeted in white (stupid choice) by the previous owner and I intended to put down some sort of laminate flooring. It is rear bath with twin beds forward of that with fold down kids bunks (max 125lbs) above the twin beds. Holding tanks are in good shape - no leaks, and the valves function as they should. No plumbing leaks. Everything works as it should except the 3-way Dometic fridge which does not work in any mode; 12v, 110v, nor propane. The furnace works great and both roof units work both as A/C and as heat. The dash air fan does not work but the compressor appears new and it cycles on just fine but it currently does not blow. The cockpit heater fan , which is separate, works fine. Built in vacuum works good. It has the optional luggage carrier on the roof. Onan 6000w "power in a drawer" genset with less than 200 hours. It runs and powers everything but needs a tune-up.

New price of $2500.00. Surely someone wants a 290 with good bones as a winter project. :)
