Gaskets

Unread post by Acesneights » Wed Jan 23, 2013 8:04 pm

Windshields are still made for these. They are very expensive. I will try to get the name of the company up. Also the windshield gaskets are the only thing still available from Foretravel. I think I paid 150$ roughly for a kit. It is for the 1974 up but the guy at Foretravel told me it will work with >74 with some slight trimming. The guy at Foretravel is hard to reach who knows about these so be patient.\nI was able to get a 100ft roll of the self locking gasket used on the side windows.\nI'll post where I got it when I find the receipt.

This was the company I got the One piece locking gasket from for the side windows. It was cheap and I got it by the roll. As near a I can tell it's the right stuff.\nhttp://www.trimlok.com/cat/One-Piece-Locking-G ... s_136.aspx

However, some later Travco windshield gaskets had a 'chrome ring' (possibly chromed plastic? I am not certain) set into the locking glass gaskets.\n\nPlain rubber glass gaskets & chrome ring glass gaskets do not interchange!

I noticed on my 76 270 the windshield appears to be the right one and the right size but it sits a bit caddy-whompass. in the opening I am thinking the PO did the best he could but got did not get it centered when he did a windshield replacement.\n\nPassenger side appears original (slightly fogged) and driver side looks new. Pretty big gap in the middle between the two sides (although sealed with I am guessing 1/2 inch think gasket) It looks like the whole windshield was installed about 1 inch to far to the driver side. they then slathered RTV/snot on the big hole on the driver side.\n\nLong questions short: Were there different size windshields for various models and is there some type of seat at the bottom that will help me get the windshield reinstalled?\nAlso can you get one piece windshields for these coaches?\n\nIt does not leak but it bugs the sh#t out of me that it is crooked and it's ugly (even if I am the only one that would ever notice it)\n\nRob

Windshields were all the same. You may get lucky and get new gasket kit from Foretravel. http://www.foretravel.com/ There is not a one piece windshield.

Now bear in mind this is for 220/270. I am not sure about 320 or 210 but...\nearly 73 back(headlights up high) are all the same and about 1/2 inch shorter across the radius than late 73 up. They are NOT interchangable. Robc, Sounds like a crappy install. Post some pics.

Crappy install indeed. I grab some shots tomorrow. I also found some leakage at the side windows down low. Looks like rain water collecting in the trough on the outside of the window then, because it is flat, fills up then overflows into the house.\n\nAnother possibility is that the whole outer black seal gasket is leaking. I plan to get some rain gutters for above each window but was wondering if there were any work arounds for the rail/trough bathtub syndrome.\n\nRob

Fellas:\n\nAttached are a few photos of windshield.\n
Drivers side upper gap windshield.JPG
\n\nThis is drivers side at the top. As you can see it sticks out about an inch at the top. the other side looks pretty good so I am thinking the center gasket is too thick or the something.
