This was someone's baby... lot's of custom mod's
I spotted this Travco in Del Rio, Texas yesterday. The longer I looked it over, the more I realized that this was someone's pride and joy back when it was in it's prime.\nI believe it to be a 1968 or older but I am not completely sure due to the modifications (or very unusual factory options). \n1) Custom cut front wheel wells with built in flares.\n2) Square quad headlights scream early 80's to me.\n3) 8 lug wheel pattern tells me that this thing has had an axle swap sometime in the past.\n4) Notice the spare tire has been relocated to the right side... I don't believe that's factory.\n\nThe interior looked to be in pretty good shape and of course there's the custom paint job and other custom touches. There is some fire/heat damage from the building that burned nearby but not too bad. I see that it has a very old Minnesota license plate as well as a "Destination Unknown" bumper sticker. Perhaps a reference to the early 80's punk band Missing Persons?\n I certainly hope that someone will love this Travco and get it back on the road again someday.

If it was around here it would be in my driveway...The older 270's had 8 lug IIRC.

\n\nI didn't realize that... I thought the ones I saw with 8 lugs were axle swaps. I have only seen a few older 270's in real life.Acesneights wrote:The older 270's had 8 lug.

I like that Mad bumper on the front.

That's just sad to see...I think that is one reason why my uncle gave me his Travco- he knows I love it and plan on using it.

Next time I get to Del Rio I will see if it's still there. I may try and track down the owner but I would just try to "re-home" it to someone else as I really don't need another project.

Looks like the house/whole area is abandon/run-down

The house actually burned and is just a shell from what I could see. The coach suffered some smoke damage from the house fire but looks ok in person. The interior looks pretty decent from what I could see. This is right on a public street but I didn't look too closely. I was hoping the owner would show up but no such luck. I may leave a note next time.

My 1969 270 has 5 bolt hubs, also the windows changed in late 1970 from the ones on this coach.
