speedo cable
being new to the site I'm not sure if this has come up before. I had to replace the speedo cable and housing on my 270 mahal. went to napa and the 18 yr old looked lost when told what I was looking for so....I told him, order me a cable from '69 DODGE a 100 and there it was, better than the original as it was 6 in longer and I was able to keep it farther away from the exhaust manifold

Re: speedo cable
Was your cable a straight shot or did it go to a cruise control unit?

Re: speedo cable
my cruise control died years ago, going threw bakersfield calif of all places. I never used it all that much anyway so my cable is direct from the speedo head to the trans

Re: speedo cable
I need to find the cable to the speedo from the cruise unit. I need to test the cruise and see if I can get my spare Subaru Throttle actuator to work on my little 440.

Re: speedo cable
if you have the cable housing from the cruise control to the speedo head you can buy a universal cable (the inside part that turns) and cut it to fit very, very easily. I can't remember just what mine looked like when I disconnected/bypassed it. only reason mine failed was due to the close proximity of the cable housing to the exhaust manifold. if you do not have that part I'll see if mine is still there when I get back to ny (in fla till april) and I'll give it to you. just remind me next month

Re: speedo cable
the part that hooked to the speedo end was a plastic clip on end. it had separated and then the cable snapped. it was an interesting mess

Re: speedo cable
go to napa and ask to see a speedo cable with the outer housing from a pre 69 dodge van and I'm sure you will find the same type of end. the dashes on those vans were the same as most of the earlier travcos. if yours is different just ask for a newer dodge van and take a look.

Re: speedo cable
My nearest Napa is 45 minutes away. I will be pulling the pieces out to get the length and the type of ends I need. I also have headers so I need to keep the cable away from those.

Re: speedo cable
so I take it you are bypassing the cruise also ? for the extra length cable any of the dodge vans seem to work with the mid engine set up. I'm not sure just what your dash looks like as I had mentioned my '70 is the same as the pre 69 vans

Re: speedo cable
My dash being a 76 is different from the earlier ones. I want to try and get the cruise working. For now I just use my GPS for a Speedometer.
