Question on the Dana 70 HD

Are the spring perches welded on the rear? Mine appear to be clamped in place with the u bolts. The reason I am asking is that a Dana 70 HD out of a newer holiday rambler with a 4.56 to 1 gearing and rear disc brakes has shown up on ebay. This could be an interesting possibility.
