did 400 miles towing a car behind my Travco

Unread postby Acesneights on Sun Aug 10, 2014 9:35 pm

I use a tow dolly. It towed my Golf TDI without issue. Went up to the Poconos then to Kneobels Amusement park. What a really cool park.

Hi... nice unit... Did you paint the scheme?
Is the primary color gray enamel or metallic silver?
Hard to see from pic.
Trying to decide about repainting mine or just the
striping ... not sure yet..

The great thing about silver is that it hides blemishes pretty well.
The not so great thing about painting a Travco silver is that some people either think it's an Airstream or they remark how it looks like an Airstream.

TNX for the color reply... My current color is a light "celery green" color put on by PO...
Trying to figure how to salvage it or just change the color...BBB

I'm wanting to paint mine similar to the Travco in the pic below.
I am thinking white along the bottom instead of the stripe down the middle. Maybe in a light cream color instead of white.

Recognize the unit and paint scheme. Sad to say that unit, I believe was sold to a movie company and destroyed in the story...
(I might be wrong...)
The Travco logo would be interesting on almost any wide field area panel.
Unfortunately my green is no where dark enough or bright enough to pull that scheme off.
An idea though for a different design.....
3 weeks going and still no work on my unit and winter is fast approaching.
Might off it and forget my my last trip in a Travco and just be done with them...
No, I wont cut this one up... Not upset/PO'd enough to do that yet.
TNX for sharing the pic.

What kind of trailer hitch are you using? The bumper mount on mine is too high to pull my tow dolly and I am not trusting of the bumper holding as well as a class 3 receiver.

Thanks

It looks custom made. It's a class 3.

Thank you for the info. I ordered an universal fit class 3/4 receiver for mine and should have it Monday or Tuesday. It is good to know that pulling a car is not an issue.
