Custom paint from the factory???

Unread postby badbillybiker on Mon Aug 08, 2016 5:23 pm

I am progressivley modding my unit, first by changing my center multi-colored stripe to a common black band.
As the basic body is a off white color derived from the glass gelcote, and mine is a solid light mint green.
I have decided to do a "rustoleum roller" paint job. (not crazy about the current color).
A cheap black rattle can job and some "overspray" did it!
Decided to drill out the two pop rivets holding a oval emblem right below the door assist/safety light fixture...
and to tape it off correctly, and to straighten out my mess. Oh Oh... sumptin' ain't right. I am deducing something is
not right according to all I am aware of in the Travco world. The area beneath that factory pop riveted emblem is...
MINT GREEN... the same color as my "suppossedly" repainted unit is...also very smooth transition, no paint step!
Question... was this "original" color applied at the factory during assembly and underneath that emblem?
Never saw any literature on custom full body paint jobs. Usually just a variation of colored stripes etc.
Curious & looking for an explanation....
Picture needed for an assist?

Hope the variation can be seen...3 different angles allowing for lighting..
The pop rivets drilled out are presumed to be OEM from Travco.
Just wanting to know things...

I've seen many color Travco's but I doubt any ever came painted from the factory. I suppose someone could have special ordered it, had it painted offsight before final assembly and then finished at the factory?
