There's only like three inches of clearance between the cap and the driver floor. Do I need to slide a mirror up behind the wheel?
The wood needs replaced anyway, I think a viewing hole wouldn't go amiss.

some have a hole in the floor with a cover over the master cylinder. it is tight.

Well, can't get the cap off anyway, due to a combination of rust and too-soft plastic for the cap...
Might just rip it out and put a new one in since the brake system is borked anyway. Cut me a nice viewing window while I'm at it.

More evidence I ought just replace her-- awful gunky 'round back, and the boot is held on with a hose clamp. Totally stock item, that.
