So Is my system charging through the ammeter?

What does the tag on the stabilizer say ?\nThat motor looks to me like a 440. If the distributor is in front toward the radiator, it's either a 440 or 413. If the distributor is in the rear it's a 318.\n\nDoes the Travco have disc or drum front brakes ? Post a picture of the front of it. Yes the charging system is through the amp Guage.\nBTW the AMP gauges rarely work and even when they do they are worthless. I put an Autometer voltage gauge in my Travco.

Engine 6 T 440 T\n\n6 - 1976\nT - Built at Trenton factory plant\n440 - 440CI\nT - Truck (Truck means 440-3 not 440-1)\nThat info pulled directly from the 76/77 Service manual \n\nNot sure what the build date was.\n\n1973 Wiring diagram: http://dave78chieftain.com/73_Dodge_Wirin.html\n\nNeed the brand name off the leveling system to help with that (on control panel). Also model of leveler system if printed on control panel.\n\nIgnition switch: AUX - OFF - RUN (IGN 1) - START (IGN 2)\n\nDodge Electronic Ignition\n\nChrysler Electronic Ignition System Test

The ammeter was a weak point on the 73 and earlier Dodge platforms. The shunt resistor built into the ammeter burns out leaving you stranded. Dodge changed the design in 74 that uses a short section of wire in the alternator charge wire as a shunt monitor for the ammeter which is actually a millivolt meter. All modern day ammeters are based on the remote shunt design.\n\nDave
