Hi guys. We finally got a video posted on the Tube, it might not be as detailed as you would like but it was already ten minutes long with what we did. Let me know your thoughts. Robb\n\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvHmysfAqeA

Great build!! Have you done any performance upgrades in the engine and what is your good cruising speed. And what kind of towing have you done with it?

No major performance upgrades, have not needed them. I turned the pump up a little, have an open 4" exhaust and a conical K and N air filter but that is all. It cruises at about 60 without any issues, I would like to get the RPMs down a little at 60 but other than that I am pleased with the swap. I have not tried towing yet, but I suspect it would be a little doggy on the hills. IF I plan on towing in the future, I would add bigger injectors and a bigger turbo.

Robb;\n\nWhat did you do about the wiring for isolating the cummings and how did you do your dash up with it? I hear a lot of people thinking about doing the swap but not many doing it. Would you do it again, knowing what you do now, or just improve the gasser?

Sorry I didn't see this sooner, I would definitely do the swap again. If I do another one I would try to figure out an OD trans. But other than that it has been great. I did not want and still don't want any computers so I would probably spend the money and build up the Dodge tranny to handle the weight and use mechanical means to operate the OD. All in all it would cost around 3-4K but would probably be worth it. I know this is going to bring up a lot of "you are crazy it would never cost that much" but do your homework. I talked to 3 different tranny shops all of whom said that you can make the 618/47RH handle the power and weight, it just takes $. As far as the dash goes I used all aftermarket gauges and am glad I did as now I have more accurate readings and they were super easy to hookup. Hope this helps. Robb

So I got a little bit "Ranty" on that last post, I know you guys are not as "you can't do that" as other forums. I just get a little heated when people say "you can't do that" when they clearly have no idea what they are talking about. I heard that a lot when I did this swap and am hearing it now in the middle of my current Cummins swap. It just makes me say oh yea well I accept your challenge, what do you think of me now! I am nothing more than a back yard mechanic who likes the hobby and if I can do it so can anyone else. Enough of that soap box, have a great day. Robb

Robb, I am of the belief that given enough time or money anything is possible. Why someone would say a cummins swap is not possible is interesting a back in the mid 80's I saw a Small cummins in a plymouth duster. I also saw a 429 SCJ in a Pinto and a 455 olds in the back of a Beetle.
