Greetings, all! I'm a VERY recent (Friday) attendant to a 1972 Travco 270, partially visible in the avatar. Big Travcos were off my radar until a friend told me his parents wanted to sell one. Jumping on the 'net, I saw the big T's. Then I saw one pic of a little square box. Satellite viewing of the box made me suspect, and then an on site survey confirmed my fear; a Travco Custom 2000 with a 318. And a shaky roof. Blast!\n I then jumped on a ND wide sales site and found ONE for sale. After haunting me all summer, I went, I looked, and I bought. She's not a runner, unplated since the turn of the century, missing the gen set, and quite popular with the rodental crowd. But it's mine. Now I just need to get it home 155 miles....\n On the good side; windshield is uncracked, has a newer Holley 4bbl, and the ancient Michelin XCA's are holding air (for now). Once home, we'll start with a good vacuum and squirt some oil down the cylinders. 112,000 miles, has a front a/c unit and a plastic cover where I'm guessing the rear one had been.\n\n As if I needed any more projects....and on the way home I was offered a free (to be moved) house...It never rains...I'll be asking lots of questions.\n\nStu

Welcome to the forum Stu.\nNice 270 there. The AC locations would be where a roof vent would be. Not all Travcos came with 2 ac units. Some actually had none. There should be a pop up roof vent where a rear AC could go. My 76 had only one AC when I got it. I added a heat pump in the rear. There is quite a bit of knowledge here. Try the search function at the top of the page as there are many answered questions already on here.

Thank you for the welcome sir! \n As an extra note, I just acquired 'Travco' #2. I say ' ' because it is the Travco Custom 2000 that got me interested in the big ones. I made a low offer and it was accepted. This one is supposed to have a gen set, so hopefully it could be used on Big T. As a bonus, it's only 42 miles away....\n\nStu

Congrats!... Post up a picture of the "Travco Custom 2000" when you get a chance. I have no idea what that could be and I am curious.

]By popular request... a 1972 Travco Custom 2000! Powered by a thunderously underpowered 318-3. On the positive side, it has a generator, 1 roof A/C unit, and possibly less than 40,000 miles....\nAnd I only have to move this one @43 miles.\n\n\nStu

I really don't think that coach was produced by Travco. Does it say that on the title? I wonder if someone may have used a clear/clean title on a different unit?

Travco did make the 2000. It was an attempt to build an entry level RV to compete with Winnebago.

Here's an ad from the 1972 MotorHome Life. Note the middle picture on the left side. \n\nStu
